Wilkinson Firearms We can offer a research service for the owners of firearms
(shotguns, rifles, revolvers and pistols) manufactured or sold by Wilkinson
Sword Limited. The majority of these firearms, upon completion, were given a
special Wilkinson serial number. The Wilkinson Sword Limited firearms archive
of production and sales records, start in 1807 with Wilkinson serial number
173. These pages record details of the firearm, bore, length of barrel, type
of weapon, date started/completed and purchasers name, sometimes the
purchasers name has been left blank, we speculate that such items were sold
over the counter at the Pall Mall shop and the purchasers name went
unrecorded, other times the record simply gives the family/surname of the
purchaser. Within the record books a few serial numbers are blank with no
information recorded on them and alas, two complete books are missing. To
find your firearm in the records we must have the correct Wilkinson serial
number of the arm, without this number we cannot help you. Some gun records contain very minimal information, only
details such as the date of manufacture, bore size and barrel length. In
these cases the purchasers name is not present. It maybe that you would still
like a copy of the record even though it contains only this minimal
information. Should this be the case please tick the requisite box on the Archive
Request Form. For your interest and to help you in ascertaining the correct
Wilkinson serial number on your firearm, which sometimes, has more than one
serial number upon them, we give the archive book details including number
ranges and production dates for each book.
